How did you get started?    

My journey into the mortgage industry was a natural progression from my corporate background in human resources and my extensive experience in management. After over a decade of honing my skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service, I realized that I wanted to use my expertise to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

The mortgage industry offered the perfect opportunity to combine my passion for helping others with my professional skills. So, I made the leap and never looked back. Today, I help people navigate the complex world of mortgages, guiding them to the best programs that suit their unique needs.   

What services do you offer?

At Mako Loans, we offer a wide range of mortgage services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Some of our key offerings include FHA and VA loans, construction financing through our “One Time Close” program, and various down payment assistance programs.

I also have specialized services for medical professionals, self-employed individuals, real estate investors, and seniors looking into reverse mortgages. Whether you’re looking to buy your first home, invest in real estate, or refinance, I have the expertise and resources to help you achieve your goals.                 

What made you choose to start a company in your industry?

Starting Mako Loans was driven by a desire to create a business that truly puts clients first. After working with several loan officers and realtors, I saw an opportunity to build a company that offers not only top-tier mortgage solutions but also exceptional customer service.

The mortgage industry can be daunting for many people, and I wanted to create a space where clients feel supported, informed, and confident in their financial decisions. My corporate and real estate investor experience also played a significant role in shaping the client-centered approach we take at Mako Loans.               

What is unique about your business?        

What sets Mako Loans apart our agility, extensive network, and commitment to transparency. We move quickly to secure the financing our clients need, leveraging a network of over 240 lenders to find the best rates and terms. Our approach is rooted in transparency and trustworthiness, ensuring our clients are well-informed throughout the process.

My background as a real estate investor and homeowner instills a level of discipline and determination that drives me to fiercely advocate for my clients. I am not just a mortgage company; I am a dedicated partner in your home-buying journey.   

What is your biggest motivation? 

My biggest motivation is helping others achieve their dreams. Whether it’s guiding a first-time homebuyer through the mortgage process or assisting a seasoned investor in securing the best financing, I am passionate about making a positive impact in people’s lives. I believe that homeownership is a significant milestone, and being able to play a role in that process is incredibly fulfilling.

Every day, I strive to empower my clients with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions and reach their real estate goals.

What was the most positive impactful changes you have made in your business?                

One of the most impactful changes we’ve made at Mako Loans was integrating a more client-focused communication strategy. Early on, we realized that the mortgage process can be overwhelming for clients, so we revamped our approach to ensure that every interaction was clear, transparent, and supportive.

This involved adopting new technologies for better client engagement and implementing a process where we educate our clients at each stage of their mortgage journey. By doing so, we’ve significantly reduced client stress and increased overall satisfaction, making the mortgage process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

How do you differentiate from your competitors?            

Mako Loans is different because we are driven by a deep commitment to the client experience, born from my own personal challenges during the homebuying process. I have been on the receiving end of poor service from realtors and loan officers who were solely focused on completing a transaction and moving on, leaving me feeling lost and taken advantage of. That experience shaped my approach to this business. I vowed to create a company where clients are truly supported, educated, and empowered throughout their financial journey.

I don’t just process transactions; I build relationships. My team is dedicated to guiding clients through the often complex and overwhelming world of finance with transparency, patience, and personalized care. We take the time to explain every step of the process, ensuring our clients feel confident and informed. Our mission is not just to help clients secure a loan but to equip them with the knowledge and resources they need to make the best financial decisions for their future. We navigate the rough seas of finance together, ensuring our clients never feel adrift.

This dedication to client education and support sets me apart in the industry. I don’t see our clients as just another transaction; I see them as partners from start to finish.

What are some challenges you have had to overcome?               

Overcoming challenges has been a significant part of my journey, particularly as a woman navigating the finance world. The financial industry can be demanding, and entering it as an outsider presented unique obstacles, from breaking into a male-dominated field to proving my capabilities in a highly competitive environment. However, I’ve always viewed adversity as an opportunity to grow stronger and more resilient.

One of the keys to overcoming these challenges has been my unwavering focus on education—both for myself and for others. I’ve committed myself to continuously learning and staying ahead of industry trends, which has empowered me to offer the best possible guidance to my clients. At the same time, I’ve made it my mission to educate others, especially those who might feel intimidated by the financial process. By demystifying complex financial concepts and making them accessible, I help clients feel confident and informed, which in turn reinforces my own resolve.

What is your next big move?              

My next move is to expand my expertise into the commercial real estate sector. Commercial real estate presents exciting opportunities to help businesses and investors secure the properties that will drive their success. I’m eager to apply my experience and skills in this new area, providing the same level of dedication and personalized service that my clients have come to expect.               

I am committed to my mission of educating others on financial wellness. I believe that financial literacy is the key to unlocking opportunities, and I’m passionate about helping my clients achieve their financial dreams.
